Ready for Quiz #48?
Don’t need money, don’t take fame!
.
Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)
Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.
Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.
After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.
Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.
I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.
In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.
In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.
Here goes!

Verbalize the Positive
Although quite different films, Back to the Future & American Psycho would be two of my favourites!
500 for me this week. I loved this guy way back in the day. Finally saw him live at Ottawa Bluesfest a few years ago, just cuz.
American Psycho is an interesting flick. Have you read the book?
I have not (yet) – I gather it’s pretty gruesome, but an engaging read.
And I would have enjoyed seeing that Bluesfest set!
It’s the only book I’ve ever read that I actually started to feel queasy while reading. I remember having to get off a Toronto streetcar for some fresh air. But yes, very engaging.
300 please
Nice work, Harrison!
400 as I cold not see beyond the megaphone
Well done on the American Psycho clue, Neil – and there will still be one last Wayne’s World clue before the year is done!
300
Nice job on the backing band clue, Jimmy!
500. I love how Invisible Touch is an epic reflection on intangibility. (Might be paraphrasing a bit).
Patrick Bateman’s music monologues were something else!
Meditation was the word I wanted! An epic meditation.
I had to look up the scene after as well – what a rant!
I got zero points, but I almost got his name with the Huey, Dewey, Louie clue. Shucks!
Welcome to the quizzes, Lana – I have a feeling you’ll officially get on the board soon!
Hopefully we shall see! Cool idea to do these quizzes. Getting everyone’s musical knowledge on!
Cheers, Lana – good luck next Sunday!
Thanks Geoff, I’ll need it haha! Take care!
A curious thing. I didn’t even have to read the first clue. I saw the image with the speech bubble and knew. Made me weep and sing. 500 please.
Don’t need no credit card / to read the 500 clue to ride the perfect score train, Steve!
Quite similar here, Steve.
500! BTTF was one of a handful of films I saw in the theater as a kid. I got a huge kick out of seeing him make a cameo as I was already a huge fan.
Among my favourite movie cameos – they were just too darn loud when playing his song!
I can’t say for sure but it might be my introduction to a cameo.
if so, what an introduction!
500 for me as these guys were massive here in the 80’s.
Nicely done, John!
500!!
Exemplary, Sarca!
500
Excellent work, HMO!
I Want A New Drug but I guess I will have to pay 500 smackers to get it!
That’s the Power of Deke!
lol
300. But I should have known it from the 500 clue.
Not to worry, D – I’m pleased you got the backing band name!
Didn’t need a credit card to score 500!
No fame required either, Zack!
500 please. It’s my favourite chapter in American psycho too.
I haven’t read the book (yet) – I gather it’s pretty grim. But his monologue about this artist was one of the highlights of the film for me!
I think it’s a wonderful, brilliant book – but yes, horrific in places. there’s nothing better about the savagery and deadening affect of consumerism and Whitney Houston.
500 each for me and Mika.
Well done, Mika & James!
400. American Psycho – what a film (and reference to the artist concerned).
Agreed, TVTA!
500 for the visual clue from a favourite movie…and embarassing my wife only got 300!
A perfect score, That’s Heavy, Mike!
You keep saying that word, is there something wrong with the Earth’s gravity?
Look, there’s a rhythmic ceremonial ritual coming up!
500 this week! My father’s love of Back To The Future has come in use!!
And I believe he likes the Pittsburgh Penguins too? He’s got terrific taste, Adela!
If I didn’t get 500 on this one, I’d have to turn in my 80’s Kid club card.
80s Kid Club Card, maintained!
Excellent. Where we’re going, we don’t need roads…
