Ready for Quiz #15?

So what’s the one conclusion!

.

Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

For the translation today, I had to put the two words separately.

When I tried to translate both names together, it translated to the (first part of her stage name) is nice!

  1. That 200 clue is a pearler, Geoff.

  2. Harrison permalink

It suddenly occurs to me that being one of the first to comment doesn’t help my reputation much. I got the queen bit early on but it’s 0 today I’m afraid.

    • Not to worry, Harrison – it may not be a high scoring week for many people this week, I’m not sure how many participants are big fans of late 80s/early 90s hip hop!

  3. 400, but only from the “all hail”.

  4. 400, and I am truly surprised.

  5. 200. Didnt know she was a singer

  6. 300. The movie rang some distant bells.

    • Unlike Cheetara though, I don’t think they sold a collectible mask of her character!

      • Ah – the US costume and mask company Ben Cooper did indeed make a Cheetara mask, along with Kiss, Star Wars, Marvel and DC and many, many others. I had the Ben Cooper Luke X-Wing Pilot set. Great item!

  7. Thank f… for the very imaginative clue 2 otherwise I’d have had no idea. 200 points for me!

    • Cheers, HMO – I have a feeling you might be in plenty of good company at that score this week!

  8. 300p. Not really a fan of hip hop

  9. 400 points for me. I’m just a surprised as you!

  10. ugh 200 ugh.

  11. I get a 300 today.

  12. Zack permalink

    400. Whatever happened to her?

  13. jprobichaud permalink

    400. I completely forgot about this artist but she was quite compelling back in the day.

  14. 300 please Geoff.

  15. 400 each for Mika and me.

  16. Lucky guess for me at 400.

  17. 400. I never knew her real name until now.

  18. 300. Maybe you could have used the Arabic names for the notes for the second name?

    • Not a bad idea, Amrita!

      • In Sanskrit the notes would be dha + ni + ma. Interestingly, George Harrison’s son (who looks exactly like him) is called Dhani, after the afore mentioned notes!

      • In the While My Guitar Gently Weeps live version with Prince on guitar, I remember thinking, my goodness, does Dhani ever look like George!
I was not aware of that, that trivia may come in handy later!

      • Rani Dhanima, if you want the Sanskrit/Hindi/Bengali version of today’s artist!

I’m not going to ever feature on this quiz😔, but my English translated name would be Ambrosia Government!

I remember that Prince solo. He was wearing a red hat. It was incredible.

      • Never say never, Amrita / Ambrosia Government!

      • This is a great song called Never Say Never, in case you’ve never heard it.

      • I don’t think it’s showing the YouTube link I sent. It’s called Never Say Never by RomeoVoid.

      • I remember there was a group in the 90s (That Dog) whose singer collaborated with Weezer that also had a good tune of the same name!

  19. 500! Sorry this is late!!
