Ready for Quiz #9?
Remember what your old pal said!
.
Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)
Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.
Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.
After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.
Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.
I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.
In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.
In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.
Here goes!

500. Was listening to Putin the other day.
I haven’t heard that one yet – such a contrast between his personal stuff & his pixar stuff!
Putin puttin’ his pants on
One leg at a time
You mean he’s just like a regular fella, huh?
He ain’t nothing like a regular fella
Putin puttin’ his hat on
Hat size number nine
“You sayin’ Putin’s gettin’ big headed?”
Putin’s head’s just fine
He can drive his giant tractor
Across the Trans-Siberian plain
He can power a nuclear reactor
With the left side of his brain
And when he takes his shirt off
He drives the ladies crazy
When he takes his shirt off
Makes me wanna be a lady
It’s the Putin Girls!
100 please
On the board, Harrison!
400 please, and thank you Toy Story 🙂
Nicely done, TVTA – and there were probably some neat vintage toy advertisements from the original film.
Our first daughter was born right around the time of Toy Story 3 & I remember my eyes being opened to the world of kid’s movie brand extensions, you could buy Toy Story 3 just about anything!
Thanks. I love the Toy Story series though haven’t seen 4 yet. You’re right about the promotions – so many of them over the years, and they make for fun collectables.
500 short points please
Nicely done, Neil – hope the concert went well!
300
Good work, Jimmy!
Last week I was thinking “I’m doing well this time cause there haven’t been any TV/film questions”. And this week you hit me with a bunch of them! (And an artist I know feck all about!) So… 100 points.
My apologies, HMO!
But what a streak of 8 x 500, perhaps a new one will start again next week!
Can’t win em all. At least you know I’m not cheating!
400. I broke my perfect streak.
If the streak ends with a next-to-perfect score, that ain’t bad, Zack!
400 for me. The Toy Story clue sealed it for me.
Nice work, John – I’m guessing the kids watched that film once or twice back in the day!
Kids?? Me, I love that movie!! 🙂 We actually just watch Toy Story 4 about a week or two ago. It was pretty good.
I haven’t seen it yet, good to know it’s one the whole family can enjoy!
Toy Story clue saved my bacon on this one so 400 for me this week. Dig that collage of the Randy’s especially Johnson in the Expos jersey!
Time for baseball I’m psyched.
Nice wordplay with the Hip as well Geoff!
Have u checked out Sinclairs album? Just came out.
Cheers, Deke – when I was assembling the photos I was debating between a Seattle Mariners pic that really showcased the haircut & the Expos shot, I thought the Expos was the right choice!
And yes, I caught a bit of the Jays / Twins recently, one of the great sports to listen to in the car!
Nice to go the Expos route in regards to the pic.
Jays may hold there own this year. I think that division is Tampa’s to lose really. They are solid from top to bottom from the Coach on down.
I think they’ll be exciting to watch – probably go on some hot/cold streaks throughout the season, but there’s reason for optimism!
The optiminism is called Starting Pitching which they have now. Hopefully the Young Bats will hit. Your right though hot/cold streaks will happen.
Oh and what a difference that makes – like starting goaltending in hockey, you only realize how important it is when you don’t have it!
500!
fantastic work, Adela!
400! That one album title in the 500 clue had me thinking of another song about “Good Ol’ Boys”. I totally forgot that Randy Johnson came up with the Expos!
The good ol’ boys that wouldn’t change if they could?!
Correct. Fightin’ the system like two modern day Robin Hoods.
400. The first clue surprised me. I thought he was older than that.
nice work, D!
Nope. Don’t really know his work. 200 for me this week.
Well done on the Expos clue, JP!
Oui! Youpee for me!!!
400 this week!
Well played, Sarca!
I gave it my best shot but my first guess was off. 400 for me.
Nicely done, MIke!
400 please.
Nice work, Joe!
400 each for me and Mika who is now singing the song from Family Guy
My apologies / you’re welcome, Mika & James!
It’s 400 points on the board for me please Geoff!
Nicely done, J!
Alas I did the spreadsheet already, it will be added next week
An artist I love. 500.
His 2 on the 1001 list aren’t exactly like the Toy Story soundtrack!
Nope, but they’re great. He wrote sooo many excellent songs.
