My thanks to all who have participated in the “Artist of the Week” quizzes so far.

Ready for Quiz #4?

Ready for it?

Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

Artist of the Week #4
Record POINTS Earned (Not Artist Name) in the comments
(scroll down for additional clues)

500 points………………..American singer-songwriter, born in Pennsylvania in 1989. Her fittingly titled album, 1989, is on an updated version of the 1001 list.

400 points……………….If all goes according to plan, one day she will write songs named 29 & 36 (to keep the number sequence going that she started with her singles 15 and 22).

300 points……………………She shares her first / last names with a pair of Jonathans, as shown below:

23-Circle Venn Diagram (5)

200 points………………..Surely even her harshest critics (those haters that were gonna hate, hate, hate, regardless) have to admit, Shake it Off is pretty darn catchy

100 points………………..The artist is T_______ S_______ (please don’t leave a Blank Space for your answer!)

Answer: تايلور سويفت

(Please post your points earned in the comments section)

Thanks for playing!

Verbalize the Positive

For the first time in 2020, google translate nailed the translation today!

  1. 500. Bonus question was helpful again.

    • I haven’t thought of a bonus question for next week’s artist yet – so alas, it may just be the regular 5 next Sunday!

  2. 500 thanks to my kids playing that album daily if not more.

  3. 500 each for me and Mika.

  4. Harrison permalink

400 please, a good guess thankfully rather than familiarity

  5. 100, got mixed up with Adelle due to the numbers thing

  6. 500. She knows how to write a tune and I’m convinced she’s gonna write a proper great alternative country album at some point.

  7. 500 from a very lucky guess.

  8. This oner is due to my kids. 500 for me. I have heard enough of her to last a lifetime.

  9. Zack permalink

  10. Like a few others here I had 3 daughters so I heard this stuff and now am flashing back 500 times to a simpler time!

    • The 3 daughters club is a good one to be in!

      • I have never been so high on your list. Currently tied with about 20 people for second haha..
        I’m totally light headed haha

      • You’re in excellent company, Deke!
perhaps I should try to make the rest of the year entirely artists that have played at Crocks!

      • Well there ya go…Three shows come to mind right away from 1992-1994

I Mother Earth played there a week or so after DIG came out…

Big Sugar played and were LOUD

Tea Party right before or shortly after the debut came out.

        3 mindbower shows…

Moist sold out quick in 94 missed that one and
Rancid were booked and than there album went Top 10 in the States yet they still showed up to paly crocks..missed that one ..

        3/5 ain’t bad…like my History Tests back in H.S

  11. 300 this week.

  12. jprobichaud permalink

Not that I could pick any of her songs out of a pile. I got it on the first clue nonetheless. 500.

    • Those are good weeks, when you have invested little time but still earn a perfect score / excellent return on time investment!

      • jprobichaud permalink

Haha. ROI. That reminds me of the old 7-11 days and taking inventory. They had a column on the paper order sheets that gave the profitability of each product. You would not believe the money they made off slurpees.

      • I have a feeling it would be a pretty big profit margin on those!

  13. 500. But, how did Google nail that translation? The surname I understand, but curious about the first name. Guess we’ll never know. 🤔

    • It’s a mystery that it struggled with the cure / public enemy / steely dan, but had absolutely no trouble with today’s artist!
In any event – nicely done, Amrita!

  14. 500… Not a fan, but I would be an embarrassment to my generation if I did not get such a score!

    • And in Manhattan, you would have been relatively close to her birthplace – I’m guessing that might not have been a place you stopped when sightseeing though!
      Nice work, Adela!

  15. Count myself as a bit of a fan. 500 please. In all my Wildest Dreams I didn’t think I’d keep my 500 streak up this long. Now All I Have To Do Is Stay

    • I’m afraid we’re not Out Of The Woods yet, Steve – still a few more quizzes to go. However, those 500 points do belong with you!

      • I look at that Blank Space every week and think I Wish You Would know the answer. Sometimes it’s all ME! Other times I have to be Ready For It.

      • Hey Steph(v)en – You need to calm down!

  16. Sadly 500. Wish I did not know.

  17. A lucky but educated 500 points guess based on her age!

  18. 500! The cover of that album caught my eye in a record store one day. I’ve haven’t been able to shake its image off.

    • The quiz players are gonna play play play play – I’m pleased it resulted in a 500 for you today, Kevin!

  19. 300 please. That strikes me as about right too for a gentleman of my vintage.

  20. 500 points
