Stephen Stills – Stephen Stills (1970)
[Album 752/1001]
I don’t know how he did it.
But somehow, 50 years in advance, Stephen Stills anticipated the Covid-19 pandemic.
And he managed to put together a remarkably timely collection of titles & tunes for the year 2020.
All 10 tracks are likely relevant on some level but in the interest of brevity, I’ll narrow it down to a Top 5.
Had I listened during less bizarre times, I’m sure I still would have liked, even really liked, his well-written solo debut.
The current connections just add another layer of appreciation!

Happy Easter Weekend to all!
Black Queen – entertain yourself in quarantine by drinking and playing cards?
We have been playing ‘sequence’ (a board game with 2 decks of cards) & we picked up a bunch of cans from a local brewery a while ago. Add a soundtrack of Black Queen & it seems like appropriate quarantine entertainment, yes!
To be honest, I prefer Queen’s March of the Black Queen.
#2 is a great observation!
If I ever start feeling sorry for myself, I think of that!
Wow Stills is a Prophet while off in the distance Crosby is rolling another 20 Fatties! lol
That Crosby maybe has a slightly different training regimen than Sid the Kid!
Bahaha I hope so
Hahaha. Who knew?
Apparently Stephen Stills somehow did!
I just don’t trust that giraffe on the cover. There’s something shifty about it.
I could picture you doing a nice lego edit of this cover, Joe!
This has been on my want list what feels like forever. Every copy I’ve seen so far has been too pricy or roached.
If you stumble across a copy at a reasonable price with minimal roached-ness, it should provide a nice return on investment!
This, apparently, is a man who once recorded a jam session with Jimi Hendrix, but forgot about it. Anything is possible.
It was a different era, I suppose? What a shame though, if lucky enough to be a participant, I would have wanted to remember such a session!
