Ready for Quiz #31?

That’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout!

.

Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

  1. 500. I did a search for “rolling stone best bass players” and he was the first name that popped up, so I don’t know if he’s too overlooked.

    • Glad to hear Rolling Stone agrees! I’m pleased to hear that, as I’d argue he’s the 4th most prominent member in his band, so nice to read his contributions haven’t gone completely unnoticed

      • Sometimes I think Townshend is the most obscure, even though he writes most of the songs.

      • Possibly – I guess with the windmills he moves into the foreground for me!

  2. 500 points please, and a fine bass player for sure!

  3. I got it so early in the first clue I think I scored 515. The answer came right out of my brain on the train.

  4. 500. I’m back in the game.

    500. I’m constantly making the Abbott and Costello joke. No one ever gets it. 😦

    • There’s a photo making the rounds of a baseball player named ‘hu’ standing on first base with the caption, it finally happened!

  6. Harrison permalink

    500 again, at long last

  7. A meaty, beaty 500 for me.

  8. 500 — this band have long been one of my all-time favourites!! ‘Quadrophenia’ was the first R-rated movie I ever watched…

    • Outstanding work – and I still haven’t seen it, on the ever growing list of things to see/hear/read!

  9. 500 for me! One of the few bands I can actually name the bass player!! 🙂

  10. jprobichaud permalink

    500. No need to read the other clues.

  11. A spider whispered the answer very early. 500 please.

I’m a much nastier person than you, clearly. I’d have led with the 200 pt clue.

    • I think I reached my peak nastiness when the Pink Floyd 500 clue was about ‘Floyd’ from the band in the muppets – I’ve become somewhat nicer it appears!

  12. I Won’t Get Fooled Again, Geoff!
‘500’ windmills on the 6 string for me Sir!

  13. 400 for me this week.

  14. I can’t explain, I think it’s love…or lifelong obsession. 500 please.

  15. Easy 500 for me this week! I imagine Sarah will score the same. We went one of their shows in 2002 and there was a big tribute to The Ox at the start.

  16. 500 – I won’t get fooled again!

  17. 500 ox like points please.

  18. 500 each for Mika and me

  19. 500. They made my all-time favorite album!

  20. Man, 500 easy peasy meaty beaty big and bouncy!
