Ready for Quiz #41?

The world is, the world is!

.

Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

Record POINTS Earned (Not Artist Name) in the comments
(scroll down for additional clues)

For:

500 points………………..Though lead guitarists are typically in the spotlight/limelight, in this group, guitarist Alex Lifeson is likely the least famous member…

.

.

.

.

.

400 points……………….the lead singer/bassist of this Canadian trio was name-checked in Pavement’s Stereo, “What about the voice of Geddy Lee? How did it get so high? I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy…”

.

.

.

.

.

300 points……………………Have you ever played the ‘who would be in your rock supergroup’ game? Many a fantasy band lineup would include Neil Peart on drums – in addition to being this group’s drummer/primary lyricist, he’s also published several non-fiction books & has even recorded his own percussive version of the hockey night in Canada theme!

.

.

.

.

.

200 points………………..When you’re in a hurry to get somewhere, you are in a ______.

.

.

.

.

.

100 points………………..The artist is R____.

I enjoyed how the band was featured prominently in the Paul Rudd film, I Love You Man!

Even though I’m not a huge fan, I think they might’ve taken away my Canadian citizenship if I didn’t get this one. 500.

  2. 500. Surely a gimme for all your Canadian fanbase.

    • It’s surprising, they’re not as big at home as they are in other parts of the world!

      • They’re not huge here – just fans tend to be particularly obsessive. There’s more than forty years of material to obsess over.

500 please, and please give an extra 100 to Lebrain for ensuring that I could answer it in the first place

  4. Hahaha drinking made me answer an old one as well. 500 and I should have paid attention

  5. 200. It’s about time I increased my knowledge of Canada’s contribution to popular music!

    • It’s interesting – they’re popular in Canada I suppose, but they don’t seem to enjoy the ‘national treasure’ status that some other groups have (especially like less Internationally renowned groups like the tragically hip).
I’m always pleased to share some Canadian content, Amrita!

  6. 400 for me, please.

  7. 500 for me and Mika.

  8. 400. Boooo. Canadian bias. Where are all the swedish artists?

    • The Cardigans are on the 1001 list, so there’s still time – I did compare Niklas Lidstrom to Steve Winwood recently, so there’s at least been recent Swedish appreciation ’round here!

    500

  10. 500 please. One of the first rock albums I ever listened to was their debut album, and what a corker, despite not having Neil on it.

  11. 500 please.

  12. He might be the least famous, but I know him…500 for me!!

  13. 200 today.

  14. I will choose a path that’s clear I will choose 500 points!
    (Swiped that line from Freewill)

    • If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice to earn a perfect score again this week, DeKe!

      • It’s all about finishing respectably Geoff! lol

  15. 2112 points this week… or maybe just 500…
