Ready for Quiz #30?

Why wait!

Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

  1. 300.
Only a curiosity, some years back, to discover whether the last song listed in clue 3 was the same covered by the Stones on ‘It’s only rock and roll’ led to the modest total enumerated above.
Not even a partial 90s man.

    • I believe their song featured the number 2 vs. To – though with the stones & 90s hits, there still may have been legal issues!

      • Well, I can’t really say that I enjoyed the song (I don’t think I was ever their demographic) and I’m not a particularly huge Stones fan. But at least the UK guys knew the difference between ‘to’ and ‘too’.

      • too (and not 2) true!

  2. 400. There were a few Georgia bands to choose from in the era – I thought about Black Crowes and Outkast.

  3. 500. I’m as surprised as you are but I must have seen We Are The Millers a half a dozen times.

  4. Harrison permalink

    100 please

  5. 400 please.

    500. Had to dig back into the mind grapes to remember that scene. It’s been a while since I saw that movie, but I remember really liking it.

  7. 400 for me. I am embarrassed I didn’t get it at 500 since I from Atlanta. I was thinking rock genre on the first clue and not hip hop.

  8. Took me me to 400 to get it. I saw the Millers once. I liked it! I wish stuff wouldn’t disappear off Netflix as frequently as it does.

Incidentally I just got a VPN program so I can access US Netflix. It’s not all it’s hyped up to be. Yes, they have more than us, but we have lots of stuff they don’t. Family Guy for example is only on Canadian Netflix. So while I’m not disappointed with my experiment, and I have lots to watch (I did BASEketball last night and Evolution this morning), it’s nothing special.

    Tangent over!

    Nice quiz.

    • I haven’t seen BASEketball in years but I remember finding it hysterical – Feel free to take tangents that lead to BASEketball any time!

      • There was a song in BASEketball, often referred to as Baseketball Car Song:

      • Brilliant scene – even if some guy’s trying to blackmail you & your girlfriend thinks you suck!

      • It’s all part of some rich guy’s evil plan!

Rich guy played by Robert Vaughn, who plays the evil rich guy very well. He did it in Superman 3 when I was a kid! All star cast in that thing too. Ernest Borgnine, Robert Stack, Bob Costas, Jenny McCarthy! LOL Cameos by Reggie Jackson, Kareem Abdul Jabar and #3 Dale Earnhardt!

400 today. I know their hits but that’s about it.

  10. Just 💯 today.

  11. My sister played this CD like crazy back in the day as I was the one who bought it for her!
Not my cup of tea but still music!
    So 400 for moi!

  12. 400 each for me and Mika. Please stick to the singers and the bands that I’m used to.

  13. 400 please!

  14. 400… luckily I was reading out them recently. I had just watched The Other Guys which they are referenced in a lot.

  15. Good one Stephen. At 400 points I was like Lisa, yes it’s her… but what band?? At 300 points I was cursing my brain for not connecting those well known songs… finally got it at 200 points scored. Gah. Think my memory needs some of this artist of the week! 🙂

  16. 400 for me. Never saw that movie and don’t really know their lyrics, but I know the album title!

  17. 500 because who can forget the Millers movie, some scenes are indelibly etched in the recesses of my mind.

    • Agreed Neil – I went into the film with low expectations & thoroughly enjoyed it!
And indelibly is a term I also thoroughly enjoy
