Ready for Quiz #33?

It feels like something’s heating up!

Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

Artist of the Week #33
Record POINTS Earned (Not Artist Name) in the comments
(scroll down for additional clues)

500 points………………..How do you know if it’s April 30th? Every year, a meme featuring this American artist quickly becomes ubiquitous on (the) facebook

400 points……………….Born in Memphis in 1981, although initially dismissed by some due to his boy band beginnings, he has since enjoyed massive success as a respected songwriter/actor/dancer/producer.

(for the record, I became a fan of his after the 2003 Toronto Sars Stock. After the crowd behaved disgracefully during his set, he self-deprecatingly said, “If I came to see AC/DC, I wouldn’t want to see me either”)

300 points…………………His 2002 solo debut album, Justified, is on the 1001 list (at the moment, none of his prior work with *NSYNC has been included)

200 points………………..He shares a first name with the Bieber fever & his last name is a combination of Lumber + Large area of Fresh water

Untitled presentation (32)

100 points………………..The artist is J_______ T_______l____

Answer: جاستن تمبرليك

(Please post your points earned in the comments section)

Thanks for playing!

Verbalize the Positive

His comedic timing on SNL is excellent!

  1. 400. The 200 image came up on my WordPress feed before I clicked through, but it didn’t help – I thought it was potatoes!

    • Thanks for the heads up – I had forgotten to make the usual logo the ‘featured image,’ hopefully it’s changed now.
And the potato resemblance may be sending people down an unexpected path!

  2. Harrison permalink

    200 please

  3. 400, don’t know any related meme

  4. 400 for me, Geoff!

  5. Zack permalink

    500. I wasn’t sure if it was the solo artist or the band, but I knew both.

  6. 400 for me even though I should have known it at 500 because I believed I have used that Meme.

  7. 400 bucks thanks for that Sars Stock tip. I will add that was a great quote about AC/DC!
For Those About To Rock Indeed!

    • He came out and performed with the stones later that night on the song Miss You – it fit his voice well!

      • Were u at that show?

      • I was! I didn’t get there until after Blue Rodeo (was taking a summer accounting course at the time and had an exam in London that morning!) so I missed his set – but I got there in time for Rush/ACDC/Stones, which is a pretty good trio!

      • U should review it!

      • I’m afraid Deke, what’s that hip line, My memory is muddy about the show!

      • Dang!
Must have been a good time!
Well played in regards to the Hip Line..

    400. I remember his self-deprecation bit.

  9. 300. That first clue might have been in Icelandic for all the meaning it held. Heard of the album though.

  10. I’ll take 300 today.

  11. 300. Don’t know the meme either. That Scarlett Johansson video was great though.

  12. 400. Never seen a 500 meme somehow.

  13. 400 because I have no idea of this meme.

    • Look for it next April 30th – it may be like noticing real estate signs when moving, once you start seeing it, you see it everywhere!

  14. 200 (a very neat symbolic clue)!

  15. 400! Thankfully I know my AC/DC references or I would have been lost otherwise!

  16. 400 please, I quite like him.

  17. 500 for me. 400 for Mika since she got sidetracked with thoughts of the song First Of May by Jonathan Coulton, which is a NSFW delight

  18. 400. I don’t know the meme…
