Ready for Quiz #34?
Rock on!
.
Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)
Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.
Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.
After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.
Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.
I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.
In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.
In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.
Here goes!

For:

300 points…………………They have a pair of records on the 1001 list, Electric Warrior (1971) and The Slider (1972) & Marc Bolan, the aforementioned lead singer/guitarist, beat Slash to the Les Paul + Top Hat style combo by a decade or two

Whenever I’m late posting the quiz to (the) Facebook, it’s generally for a happy reason.
In this case, it was returning home later on Sunday following a Blue Rodeo concert in Toronto!

500. You talked about them this week already.
400
Good work Zack!
They were fresh on my mind for the quiz!
Kind of want to hear what would happen if The Smiths tried to sound like Captain Beefheart’s ‘Ella Guru’.
I’d listen to that!
400
Nicely done!
200 please
Good work Harrison!
500. Excellent Empire Records reference. “Revealing clothing!”
My thanks Kid Slender – we musn’t dwell on ___ manning day!
Yay! 500 please Stephen 🙂
Excellent work TVTA!
A hub cap diamond star 500 points for me!
You’re an electric warrior this week, HMO!
400
Good work Milo!
500 for me. I like these guys a lot.
That 500 score is both cool and great!
Metal Guru, is it you?
Yes it is and I’ll have 500 please.
Bruce it appears you’re a wild/rock & roll child, oh yeah!
I’ll take a 200 for this week.
Nice work D!
400. Didn’t know that Smiths piece of trivia.
As they did with the New York Dolls, the Smiths led me to this group as well!
Ah yes, the interconnectivity of music.
Hey! Weren’t we just talking about this the other day Geoff?
500 slams on the Get it on, bang a gong routine!
We certainly were!
I thought, this artist was fresh in the mind, why not do the quiz about them this week – exemplary work, Deke!
Thanks for making sure my old noggin still works!
Even on vacation, the noggin’s still workin’ just fine!
500 as how could anyone forget he purveyor of fine lyrics like:
A mad Mage with a maid on his eyebrows
Hunteth the realm for a God
Who could teach him the craft of decanting
The glassy entrails of a frog.
I presume that came from the album, My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair… But Now They’re Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows?!
No from the less excitingly titled Unicorn album.
Well that album title’s nowhere near as chatty!
400!
Nice work, Sarca!
400! I would have been lost if your post from earlier this week hadn’t sent me down a rabbit hole!
I am pleased the rabbit hole paid off!
500! (My Bowie nerd-dom is very useful in many different realms… Including this clue! And the 500-clue song is my favourite by this band!)
Bowie nerd-dom pays off again!
400.
Well done Amrita!
500 please Geoff.
Done and done!
400 each for Mika and me.
Well done Mika & James!
400. I don’t know Smiths.
And Morrissey’s becoming one of those, the less he says, the better!
At risk of being unpopular, I’d say that was always the case. 😉
