Ready for Quiz #2?

Cool, cool, cool!

.

Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

I enjoy his tune, mo’ money mo’ problems, and I appreciate being able to use it as the song of the day when teaching personal finance!

Here’s where a 1999 birthday bites you in the butt-
Was hypothesising at 400 but only confirmed at 100

    • It happens!
Now question Harrison – if I had said, you have to guess at 400, would he have been the name you would have gone with? If so, I’d call that 400.

      • Harrison permalink

No, it would be 100. When I saw the “size” bit, Meatloaf popped into my head, but I knew his real name so I ruled him out. Then I thought of other artist names to do with size and the artist of the week came into my head, but I failed to see how the name was oxymoronic, so I continued on.

      • it’s one of his nickname variations that’s ends up as an oxymoron – the honesty is appreciated!

  2. Damn three hundred,

  3. I felt I knew it at 500, alas I didn’t nail it until 400. Though I have him in my collection, I never think of him by his real name, only his stage name!

  4. Like Aaron, I needed Kloo Too. 400.

  5. 400. More for my understanding of oxymoron than for my vast encyclopedic knowledge of music.

  6. 200

Was thinking a different artist the whole first few questions.

  7. 200 and I’m like No No No

  8. 400. My guess at 500 got the genre right but the wrong guy.

  9. Uh sicker than ya average — 500!
    Milo.

  10. Zack permalink

    500!

  11. 200 for me. Outside of my area of knowledge.

  12. Mr Stephen is back in teaching mode and he schooled me this week!
Like a lot of my Math Marks in Highschool I scored 200 which when u break it down its 2/5 or basically 40%
Indeed just like my Math results!😜

  13. Have not listened to the artist. 400 today thanks to the oxymoronic nickname clue. By the way, nice banner!

  14. wdeod permalink

    200.

400 for me this week, but not because his music is my area of expertise. I remember his death was quite a big event when I was in university.

    • Same with me (but high school)!

      • jprobichaud permalink

Haha. Go ahead. Rub that in.

      • Though I’m far from young I’m afraid – each of my current high school students was born in the 2000s!

      • jprobichaud permalink

Yikes! That makes me feel old. I still remember partying likes it’s…

  16. 500. Roger was his driver.

  17. 100 but only because I know the Byrds.

  18. 500 each for me and Mika, though mostly a lucky guess on my part.

  19. It’s 400 for me this week, sir.

  20. 500!! Boom!

  21. Ah, dang these rappers an my lack of knowledge about any of them. Still… managed to squeak out a 400.

  22. 200…my hip hop knowledge is a little lacklustre!

  23. (I think that may have glitched and posted twice, sorry!!!)

  24. Nothing. Nada. Zero. zilch.
