week 10

Ready for Quiz #10?

Wowee zowee!

.

Quiz Rules/Format
(feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

I appreciate that the 1001 editors acknowledged this artist’s first two albums as being list-worthy!

  1. Too frickin’ easy for me this time, dude! 500!

    • Haha, no performance enhancing test required this time either, I had a feeling you’d recognize that speech bubble!

      • One of these days you’re gonna catch me out and I’ll get a 100, but not this time!

  2. Damnation, 300

  3. 500. Thanks for the subliminal clue!

  4. ZERO THE HERO…
the dude that posted the very first comment saying it was too easy should be docked 500 points and a mandatory piss test as well for bragging!
    HAHA

    • Deke, this is your equivalent of him mostly blocking out the Van Halen logo and asking what it was, for you.

Me, I love the band in question here, and own all the records. It was a dead giveaway for me!

No docking of points, and no piss tests!

      • haha….i’m frozen in time….80s time

      • Or better yet, Somewhere In Time…

Naw, it’s not even as bad as all that. We know what we know, and I knew that speech bubble instantly, is all!

      • yes Somewhere In Time….ok i’m better now!

  5. 300, not too shabby! Still in the game…

  6. Woweee, I can’t believe I got 500 on this one when I’m only a casual fan (and I don’t even own this particular album).

  7. 500!

    (Nice t-shirt!)

  8. Zack permalink

    I got 200 this week.

  9. 300 for me again. Still in the mediocre zone!

  10. Also, only the first two albums list-worthy? I might add more than that! 🙂

    • I think the 1995 album in question should be on there too. Terror Twilight is pretty good as well.

      • They should let US make the list!

      • I guess making 1990’s picks in 2005 is much harder than making them in 2017. Time always helps weed out the albums that don’t hold up. The book has a bit of a British bias as well. I know very little about stuff that’s not western pop music, so I’m certainly not volunteering to make a list.

      • Terror Twilight’s a nice contrast with Slanted & Enchanted too in terms of production values.
I think Brighten The Corners might be my favourite of the lot!

  11. 300 for me too, but I don’t like ’em so I would argue that should actually be worth double (or something).

  12. Hooray, a 500 at last. Wow! (he he) Like Rich, not a band I particularly know or love, but I think the typeface/lettering is memorable. What kind of nerd am I?

  13. Jenn permalink

Only 100 for me. How many times have I seen that T-shirt and could not even a little bit remember what the word was in the speech bubble?

  14. 400…two albums in the book was my ticket to the answer

  15. mmurphyto permalink

200 – you had me at Indie Rock, you lost me at LoFi

    • I have a feeling you’ll get 500 in week 11 based on a Holly gift from a few years ago!

      • mmurphyto permalink

Muppets I know, but it seems their real-life counterparts I’m baffled by.

      • I think it’s safe to say I’m more familiar with Jim Henson’s creations too!

  16. 200 boo-urns

  17. Love em, 500!
