Artists of the week (so far): Brian Eno, U2, Stevie Wonder, Everything But The Girl, Elvis Costello

My thanks to all who have participated in the “Artist of the Week” quizzes so far.

Congrats to all those who correctly identified Elvis Costello last week.

Here are the results after 5 quizzes:

Ready for Quiz #6?

Alright, alright, alright!

Quiz Rules/Format
(feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

Verbalize the Positive

I appreciate that the number of quiz participants keeps growing every week, this is fun!

  1. 500 for me again, but only ‘cos we love this guy!

If your pattern of quiz and then albums by that artist follows, I am REALLY looking forward to your next few posts! 🙂

    • Well done Aaron!
And the pattern most definitely will continue – Sunday quiz, Tuesday artist reveal & review!

      • Fantastic. I’m guessing… Rain Dogs, Bone Machine and… Swordfishtrombones?

And yeah, before anyone thinks I was cheating, we have a book here about the man and that date sounded about right. My lovely wife is a big big fan.

      • All on the list! But I’ve already done Rain Dogs & Nighthawks, so the third this week sounds more like a California intersection

  2. 400 this time as birthdays are not my thing

  3. 500! (Again was an educated guess but that still counts right?)

  4. Like Neil, not an expert on birthdays. But still managed 400.

  5. 100. Based on initials alone, but should have got it at Cookie Monster.

  6. 100…I missed the ‘American’ clue and thought it was Neil Young.

  7. Wow, 100 for me this time 😣

  8. Zack permalink

  9. Off week for me…100

  10. dial up 100 for deke

  11. Huge fan, but birthdays ain’t my thing and while I had an idea at 400, it was the third clue that confirmed it for me. So, it’s a respectable 300 for me (that is respectable, right?)

  12. 300! Not bad, same as J.

  13. 200 points for me this time. When I saw 1949 I immediately guessed Bruce Springsteen or Billy Joel. A very tough addition to this series. Nice choice.

    • And the first two clues I’m realizing are true for Bruce (born in ’49, also with 5 albums on the 1001, performing under given name) – Billy Joel’s lone entry on the list is The Stranger, but I’d argue at least 5 others belong on here!

  14. Bit embarrassing for a megafan of his, only 200 for me – he made my third favourite LP ever too!

    • I’m megacurious about which LP that is (not to mention the other two in the top three!) – swordfishtrombones?

      • Bone Machine. Music only gets two better than that. Is it on the 1001? (my copy is in the downstairs loo, too far away to check).

      • It sure is – that, rain dogs, heartattack, swordfish, and nighthawks – not a bad quintet!

      • Yup, all filed under ‘T’ … (mwah-ha-ha)

      • The only True filing system!

  15. 300 but I should have had more confidence because I was right at the 500 level but kept going to be sure.

  16. mmurphyto permalink

300 Points for a late entrant into this carnival game. Leave it to the movie trivia as my trigger for anything quiz-related!

  17. 100 this week
