Ready for Quiz #37?

Hey ho, let’s go!

.

Quiz Rules/Format
(feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

Verbalize the Positive

In the google translation from Arabic back to English, pretend the ‘a’ is an ‘e’ – the attempted direct translation of his stage name resulted in ‘rivulet!’

  1. My brain only allowed me 400 this week because the 500 clue threw me towards that other thing (was it a band?) who sang an earworm pop song. Shame on my brain! Especially since I knew the 500 answer immediately after I scrolled to 400. Gah.

  2. Not a loser baby cos I got 500

  3. 300 better than 200 but, well.

    500. Boom!

  5. 100. I’m ashamed I didn’t get it earlier.

    • Not to worry Amrita – 100’s still on the board!

      • Better than getting zero at least! I quite like today’s artist, hence the disappointment.

      • I quite like today’s artist too! I find he’s got a bit of Bowie’s ability to always sound different, yet somehow always sound unmistakably like himself

      • That is true! I never made that comparison before. But, it fits. I just think he’s cool. Like he won a Grammy in recent years, and almost got Kanye-d. Kanye was about to storm the stage but backed out in the last moment, and he actually asked him to come up!

      • That’s a nice way of handling that situation!

  6. 500. Y-odelay-ee-oo!

  7. Woohoo! 500 for me! 👊

  8. 500! Yas! I am on a roll!

  9. 500 for me as well. People used to see his single-moniker in my store and ask if he was the son of a famous guitar player. Nope, different surnames!

  10. jprobichaud permalink

    500!

  11. Zero this week. I got if after reading Mike’s comment. Sometimes I feel smart and other times I don’t.

  12. 500. Just saw this artist (SO GOOD) and a friend whose last name is Hansen made a joke about that

  13. 300… a good result for me as I know nothing about this artist. Other than that he’s pish!

  14. Like a whip-crack sending me shivers, I got 500.

  15. 500, one of my favourite artists.

    • A fine score & a fine choice to be among your favourites Geoff!

      • British punk rock starts here. Dave Vanian (the lead singer) was also a forefather of goth. They’re owed a lot.

  16. 500 to me, I get bored after Odelay I’m afraid.

    • A fine score, though I’d say mutations is his finest hour!

      • I sold that one for a packet last year. The less I like an LP the better condition it’s in, it’s the ones I really like that are the most lived in.

  17. Definitely 500 – I knew all these bits.

  18. 300 this week

  19. 300! Odelay… brings back memories
