Ready for Quiz #36?

Fantastique!

.

Quiz Rules/Format
(feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

Verbalize the Positive

I remember enjoying this artist’s cameo on the Fresh Prince of Belair.

I also appreciated the tip of the hat in another episode, where Uncle Phil called his pool cue Lucille!

  1. 500. Lucille was a helpful clue.

  2. Zack permalink

    I got 500.

  3. 500. I wonder how this translates into Arabic!

    • I think I used the honey-producing insect instead of his initials when I did the translation!

      • At this rate, I won’t be surprised if you learn some actual Arabic by the end of this year!

      • I’m hoping some will be retained!
I picked up a couple of weezer Japanese import CDs this year, I’m also hoping to be able to write ‘weezer’ in Japanese at some point!

  4. Full points here too. Perhaps the most famous girl guitar in music?!

  5. 500. Think that might have been too easy a clue for the 500 spot!

    • Haha, perhaps – it’s funny, every week I over/underestimate how difficult the clues will be.
The Libertines T & synonyms last week? I thought, too obvious (and I think there were a record number of 0s).
This week? Does anyone actually pay attention to guitar nicknames? Apparently yes!

      • I think what maybe threw people last week was that no-one expected The Libertines to be in the 1001 hehehe

      • And I think they’ve been trimmed from more recent revised editions (to make room for new records, yet still keep the list at 1001) – so perhaps I don’t need to hear them before I die anymore, but I’m glad I did!

      • Did you discover them via the 1001 then?

      • More re-discovered (actually I got into them when I worked in Glasgow in 2005, a fellow Glaswegian introduced me to them!) but their presence on the list definitely encouraged me to revisit sooner rather than later

      • Where did you work in Glasgow?

      • At the Abbey National Bank on the main street downtown – it was in the process of being acquired by Santander bank at the time so I’m not sure if it still exists under that name.
But it was right in the think of it, I think Sauchiehall street? Great summer!

  6. 500! One of my favorite guitars that if I was filthy rich, that is one I would go after.

    • Absolutely – it would likely be on my top 5 ‘if money was no issue, I’d buy these’ guitars!

  7. 500! One of my favourites! 🎸

  8. 500. I knew Sarca would know this and I predict Aaron will clock in with 500.

  9. When “Deke” Came To Town…music by U2…
I will take the 500 this week Geoff!
    0-500 in a weeks time…hahaha

  10. jprobichaud permalink

    300. Unfortunately, I am unacquainted with his guitar’s name but I know its sound very well.

  11. 500! Had it halfway through ES-355.

  12. Hahaha 1000 points for me! 😉

  13. Lucille was very helpful – glad to claim 500 this week since I wasn’t here last.

  14. 500 points. There’s very few artists that I can name by the moniker for their guitar.

  15. 300 today.

  16. 500 yes 500 so excited the thrill will never be gone of 500.

  17. 500 for me too.

  18. 500 and I have no idea why I know that. Aaron’s influence?

  19. I’m picking up another 500, Geoff. I had. To check I wasn’t reading the 100 point clue!

  20. 300! Nice artist

  21. Your being nice ti us this week 500 for me

  22. 300! Alright, King of Blues!
