Ready for Quiz #34?

Cool cool cool!

Quiz Rules/Format
(feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

Artist of the Week #34
Record POINTS Earned (Not Artist Name) in the comments
(scroll down for additional clues)

500 points……………….. Guitarist (with the birth name) Saul Hudson returned to this American band in 2016

400 points………………..As a Dr. Pepper promotional-offer-gone-wrong in 2008, manufacturers of the soft drink promised to give everyone in America a free soda if this band released a long-long-awaited album by the end of the year…and lawyers got involved when the band actually did!

300 points…………………The band name is usually shortened to a 3-letter acronym, but if you’re feeling saucy, you many choose to shorten it to the more explicit 5-letter acronym

200 points………………….Their album on the 1001 list is named Appetite for Destruction

100 points………………..The artist is G____ N (F N) R_____

Answer: أسلحة وورود

(Please post your points earned in the comments section)

Thanks for playing!

Verbalize the Positive

I saw these guys perform last week in Ottawa – I will be verbalizing so much positive about that show in a review later this week!!

From → Uncategorized

  1. A cool 500 for me, returning from vacation. Bring on the review!

  2. 200 points, guess I am having struggles.

  3. 400. Ho hum.

  4. An interest in ‘birth names’ has served me very well. lo! these last couple of weeks.
(Just as well, the second clue was totally mystifying to a non-nth-american!)

  5. 500. I’m reviewing their debut album tomorrow.

  6. BAM! 500 for Better Call Saul! 6 string included!

    • To modify a line from one of their beauty tunes, Deke gets up around 7, gets out of bed around 9 (or 7:01), gets 500 points around 11 (or 7:02 am), sippin’ a drink (coffee) and feelin’ fine!

      • What you just wrote was pure Brilliance Mr Stephen!
(Actually i was out of bed at 6 am as Lex works at 715 am and Lauren at 815am…)
        At least I’m on holidays!

  7. Finally 500!! It has been too long since my last 500.

  8. 500! I forgot about that Dr. Pepper thing.

  9. jprobichaud permalink

    400. I wondered about that show but in the end passed because I was never a huge fan. Looking forward to hearing your words though.

    • I’d imagine if you were anywhere near the Glebe on Monday, you might have been able to Hear the show!

  10. Jordan Richardson permalink

Jeez, just 200 for me. Should’ve known better.

  11. 500 too.

  12. It’s so easy. 500

  13. Zack permalink

    500. I’m on a roll!

  14. 400. Turned out to be a good guess.

  15. 100 this time.

  16. 500. Could have called his side project Saul’s Snakepit.

  17. 300 for me!

  18. Bagged a whole 500 points! Yas!

  19. 500 for me too!

  20. 300. But that Dr. Pepper thing is hilarious.

    • Nice work Jo – and a shame we didn’t live in the US at the time to collect our Dr. Pepper promos!
