Ready for Quiz #50?

This is it!

Quiz Rules/Format
(feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

  1. A speedy 500 indeed!!

  2. Damn 300 and shame faced…

  3. 500, but lucky guess

  4. 500. Easy peasy.

  5. This’s weeks clues kind of fooled me into thinking about someone else. 200 points

  6. Happy all those rock biographies finally paid a dividend. 500

  7. 200 again. Like Chris I was thinking of another artist and strongly suspect it may have been the same one. Hi-Ho!

    • I’m curious as to which one jumped to mind – in this case if you both did it, I reckon it’s a case of great minds thinking alike, as they say!

      • Your clue for 500 points – former Yardbird, critically acclaimed solo album from 1969, name rhymes with one of The Wu Tang Clan. You can understand my error. ..

      • I had to look up the Wu Tang Clan roster to confirm my guess – I couldn’t think of a Yardbird that rhymed with ODB!

      • With hindsight, Ghostfaced Killa/Steve Miller could have mislead you!

      • Haha, hadn’t thought of that connection!

  8. 500 for me thanks to doing a post on that song recently.

  9. Another 500, I’m on fire!

  10. Woo! 500!

  11. 300 for this ol Slowhand!

  12. 300 for me. Boo!

  13. Zack permalink

  14. 500! Unplugged was my first CD.

    • NIce work Kevin! And a fine choice for a first CD, the solo on the acoustic version of his 1970 hit is one of my all time favourite solos

  15. jprobichaud permalink

A bit tricky with that first clue but I got it easily with the third. 300 for me.

  16. 500 today. Always been a fan!

  17. 300 for Mika, only 100 for me. Should have known it at 500 – have heard that story before – but blanked on it.

  18. Zack permalink

  19. It’s 300 for me this time around!

  20. 500 here! I wasn’t 100% sure at the first clue but he was my guess because of the close friendship of him and George.

    • I find those 2 are inextricably linked for me too, I can’t think of one without thinking of the other – nice work Jessica!

  21. No-brainer 500! Wahoo!

    • Solid finish to the year, well played!

      • That’s what she said! Hahaha man, I’ve got a reputation to uphold, here… 😉

      • And we’ve just started re-watching the office, so I’ll be hearing that line a few times over the next little while!

      • Nice. I assume you mean the American version with Michael Scott, Dwight, Jim and Pam (and the crew)? Did you ever see the British one, with David Brent played by Ricky Gervais?

      • That’s the one – though I have seen the UK version too.
I find the Gervais original is funny, but very cringe-worthy, very frequently!

      • The cringe is so strong in that one, yes! We saw most of the American version of the Office, but I don’t think we ever finished it.

Speaking of Gervais, did you see Extras? It was funny at times too.

      • I did – and I concur, when it was funny, it was quite funny!

      • I liked the tagline for the series best: “The story of a man with small parts,”

        Because he’s an extra. Natch.

  22. jofrommontreal permalink

Nothing!! Good grief. In my eyes (or ears), this guy will always be in his twenties (I assume?) with his 70’s pals, playing that rocking version of that one real special tune…

    • It happens!
Though this guy is still with us, so we may not be thinking of the same one – this one also played in Cream 🙂

  23. 500 for this week
