Primal Scream – Screamadelica (1991) & Vanishing Point (1997)
Have you ever attempted to write a post…and struggled to get started?
Wondering what more needed to be said about a certain artist or album?
Sometimes, I imagine I have a bit of trepidation because the artist/album is so revered.
Others, it’s because I realize that someone else has already summarized my feelings more succinctly than I ever could!
.
I held up my end of the bargain, making it through multiple complete spins of both albums.
And see Mr. 1537‘s first sentence for (a more articulate & concise wording of) my thoughts.
Since he was right about the first two, I’ll take his word on the third!
…..
Verbalize the Positive
Thanks for the 2 reviews for the price of 1, Joe!
Screamadelica is really good – you’re not the first blogger to write about it this week!
I’m in excellent company!
Yes. I’ve definitely struggled to get started on a post but definitely didn’t have a problem writing about “Screamadelica”. And I’d definitely agree with 1537, “Vanishing point” is not as consistent.
Though the more I think about it, consistent doesn’t necessarily always translate to ‘favourite.’
I picture on the Penguins, Bryan Rust is likely their most consistent player.
But I imagine someone like Evgeni Malkin would likely be the favourite of more fans – can be hot/cold, but when he’s good, he’s great!
But what if it’s consistently great?
that’s a nice problem to have – that would be more of a Sidney Crosby-esque situation!
“Have you ever attempted to write a post…and struggled to get started?” Absolutely.
“Wondering what more needed to be said about a certain artist or album?” Always.
Not a band I’ve gotten tom but I would absolutely take 1537’s word on it. Good on you for stick it out!
He’s been a reliable source thus far!
Mostly, yeah! He didn’t like Pet Sounds though, so… LOL
For what it’s worth Vanishing Point is my favourite Primal Scream record over all Primal Scream records, place and time have a heck of a lot to do with that but I do love me some Kowalski through to Long Life
And that’s a good point – few would say the white album is the beatles most consistent effort, but it’s my favourite all the same!
Well it’s got Revolution on it so there is that
Not to many 2 for 1 deals out there that’s for sure but we can always count on you to give us a deal around these parts Geoff.
Cheers, Deke – and as I’m trying to get closer to the end of the 1001 list, I’ll probably start having a lot of ‘5 for the price of 1’ clearance sales!
lol
1537 should summarize all of our thoughts.
I’d finish the 1001 list a lot sooner if that was the case!
Hang on! I charge royalties you know!!
I solemnly swear to share 1/2 of the profits* from this post with you!

Thanks Geoff. I’m running at an identical rate of income from 1537 – despite all the hundreds of LPs people tell me I’ve persuaded them to buy.
Actually now that you mention it, on our respective blog income statements, the revenue # is non-existent, but the expenses from purchasing recommended music seems to increase annually!
That is so cheeky. I love it! 🙂
Cheers, Bruce (and my thanks to Joe)!
Vanishing Point is a bit inconsistent, but it’s still pretty crackin’ and I can understand why it appears on the list.
I think its “crackin’ ” – ness still outweights its “inconsistent” – ness, making for a net positive experience!
