.

My thanks to all who have participated in the “Artist of the Week” quizzes so far.

Congrats to all those who correctly identified Stone Temple Pilots last week.

The results after 2 weeks (as of Tuesday evening – results submitted after that time will be added to next week’s spreadsheet):

Ready for Quiz #3?

It’s (Not) Too Late!

.

Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

Artist of the Week #3
Record POINTS Earned (Not Artist Name) in the comments
(scroll down for additional clues)

For:

500 points………………..American singer-songwriter, born in New York in 1942.

Though she only appears on the 1001 list once as a performer (with her sophomore album from 1971), considering she has written/co-written well over 100 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100, chances are that she appears a few more times as a songwriter!

.

.

.

.

.

400 points……………….That timeless 1971 album, Tapestry, also features the fabulous double A side single, It’s Too Late/I Feel the Earth Move

.

.

.

300 points……………………Still So Far Away from guessing the artist’s name? Not to worry, You’ve Got a Friend in puzzle clue #1:

Harrison is my name, word puzzles are my game

  2. 400 due to Gilmore Girls

  3. I got 200 points yay!!! I would’ve gotten 400 points because I’ve heard “I Feel the Earth Move” from American Idol, but I forgot the artist’s name. So thank goodness for puzzle #2!! 🙂

  4. 300 thanks to the friendly puzzle clue #1 🙂

  5. 500 this week! This artist is one of my favourites of all time, and the aforementioned sophomore album from 1971 is a “comfort” album of mine — I love to get cosy and listen to it in the Wintertime!

    • Exemplary work, Adela – and great call on it as an ideal winter listen, I may have to add a bit of warmth by revisiting it today!

      • How cold is it in Canada at the moment, Stephen? This Summer hasn’t been too bad, but we are facing a week of 37+ degree days (I think it’s supposed to be 41 on Sunday!) COVID notwithstanding, I must say that I am missing the snowy, frosty weather of New York that I was experiencing this time last year!!

      • We’ve actually been quite lucky this winter – it’s been hovering around -1 Celcius for the last few weeks, so nice for snow activities but never too cold!
And yes, the timing of your New York trip ended up being really fortunate too!

  6. 400 of life’s rich points please.

  7. 400 for me since I have that album and I would feel bad if I didn’t get it on that clue.

    500. I’m on a roll!

  9. 500! I saw the play based on her life. It was great!

  10. 400 based on Tapestry being a favourite of many critics when I read those old Rolling Stone Magazines ‘fav albums lists’

  11. jprobichaud permalink

    300. I don’t think I know this artist at all. It was the visual clue that saved me.

  12. Only a 400 this week Geoff!

  13. A big 500 today.

  14. I’ll take 400 of those lovely points please!

  15. 500 for Mika by being smart and 500 for me by wild-ass guessing

  16. 500. I had an inkling after the hint.

  17. 500 smack watering points finally

  18. Yup, 500, it was the songwriting tip that sealed it.

  19. Paul permalink

500 please – my first time nailing it right away. 🙂

  20. 400 please Geoff. She’s very good, but I think would be way, way better is she swore much more in her lyrics.
