Funkadelic – One Nation Under A Groove (1978)
[Album 795/1001]
“Who says a jazz band can’t play dance music?
Who says a rock band can’t play funky?
Who says a funk band can’t play rock?”
– Funkadelic, Who Says A Funk Band Can’t Play Rock?!
Whoever was saying those things, they clearly weren’t listening to Funkadelic.
Whatever the band classification / whatever the music genre, my goodness, these folks can play.
So don’t listen to the nay-sayers; instead, do yourself a favour & listen to the irresistible One Nation Under a Groove, pronto!
…..
Verbalize the Positive
It’s tough to pick a favourite Funkadelic album (so far) between this & Maggot Brain, a very nice problem to have!
So many great musicians in one band – Eddie Hazel, Bernie Worrell, Bootsy Collins.
That’s it exactly – with some groups, it feels like there’s maybe a standout guitarist, or a standout drummer…here, it’s the whole ensemble that makes it work!
Just pick both…that is fair!!
Problem solved!
That’s a good problem to have if you ask me. Pick both and crank em both when your out on your runs!
I may just do that this morning, Deke!
Both Maggot Brain and this are on my want list. Just need to find them for less than $50, lol.
Both good ones to have on the wish list – and yes, both difficult to find at semi-reasonable prices!
With you on the ‘Verbalise the positive’ problem here, GS.
If complaining about being unable to choose is the best we can do for negativity, life is good!
