Ready for Quiz #36?

It’s go time!

.

Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

  1. 500.About to cook dinner, maybe could make him.

    • I thought I remembered reading a fun fact somewhere that, ironically, he was a vegetarian at one point!

  2. Zack permalink

500! He did one of my desert island records.

    • Well played Zack! And now of course I simply have to know which one – what year was it released?

Ok. Redeemed myself with 500 this week. I think the trick is to do these before bed, rather than while waking up…

  4. Ouch. 400. I took my eye off the ball.

  5. 500. The artist who recorded my first ever 7″ single. There were three nuggets of info in that first clue. I only needed too of them… Not bad.

  6. My 500 point dreams came through.

  7. Wasn’t aware of the artist’s birth name. 400 points today

  8. Zack permalink

    400!

  9. Only a 300 for me. Damnit.

  10. The film clues normally fox me, but I watched W’s W with the boy just recently and pointed out the answer man. So I’ll take 500 by dashboard light, if you please.

    • Fantastic to hear you’re watching W’s W with the young man Bruce – and given the recency of the viewing, I suppose you remember every little thing (about the film & this artist’s cameo) as if it happened only yesterday!

      • Hm. Mostly what I remember about this artist was his abysmal performance at the AFL Grand Final a few years back (that’s our Super Bowl, kind of). Seared into the memory, that one.

      • Sounds like a performance I can safely avoid skipping on youtube!

    • Or Bruce – given your good timing with the viewing, as I should have also said (perhaps my favourite quote of the film), “Aren’t we lucky we were there to get all that information? It seemed extraneous at the time!”

  11. 500! Boom

  12. 500 for me! I actually know his real name so this one was easy.

    • Nice work John – I found it curious that he was born Marvin, legally changed his name to Michael, and his stage name is neither!

      • Maybe has has multiple personalities and depending on what he is doing is who he is…or something like that.

      • That strategy worked well for Eminem/Marshall Mathers/Slim Shady!

  13. 500 pounds of Hamburger please and we shall Barbecue it all up!

  14. I’ll take 200 today. I never knew he had a name.

  15. 200. Still haven’t watched Wayne’s World, despite participating in this quiz for over a year now. Shame on me!

    • Not to worry Amrita – I probably (probably!) won’t include another Wayne’s World clue for at least another few weeks!

      • Please don’t stop on my account! I’m sure most people participating have seen it. Technically I have too, but I was too young to remember. Now, if there were more Jim Carrey references…

      • I’ll see what I can do with Jim Carrey!

      • There’s certainly a reference to be found for Jefferson Airplane on, I believe, The Cable Guy!

      • I remember he did a good version of Somebody to Love!

  16. 500 each for Mika and me. No clue about him being the bus driver in Spice World?

    • I forgot about that appearance – but now that you mention it, I do remember his line in the film where he referenced that 300 point song!

  17. 500. Good movie 🙂

  18. 500 preferably with mash potatoes

  19. It’s 300 for me this week.

  20. 500! Keep the Wayne’s World clues coming!

  21. 500. His name is Robert Paulson… His name is Robert Paulson…
