Ready for Quiz #29?

Let’s begin!

.

Quiz Rules/Format
(Same as last year, feel free to skip to the quiz if you know the rules already)

Your Task: Name the mystery Artist, ideally with as few clues as possible.

Correctly guess the artist on the first clue? 500 points.

After scrolling down to the second clue? 400 points.

Still don’t know after the fifth clue? 0 points, but a crisp high-five for participating.

I’ll use google translate to put the correct answer at the bottom in Arabic (if you read Arabic, that’s fantastic, but no cheating by reading ahead!) and you can translate it back to the language of your choice to confirm your answer.

In the comments, please enter your POINTS earned (not the artist name) and I’ll keep track of the running totals in a spreadsheet.

In addition to eternal bragging rights, the winner at the end of the year may even get something as prestigious as a digital certificate.

Here goes!

Verbalize the Positive

Every review that I recall reading from their recent tour has been overwhelmingly positive, not bad for a group 40+ years into their career!

  1. 500. Only metal band that I’m really a fan of.

  2. 500. My first ever MY BAND band

  3. 500!! Yas!!

  4. 500. And no one is more astonished by that than me.

    • I’m going to a trivia night tonight – and those are my favourite answers, the ones where I wouldn’t expect to know, but somehow the information was astonishingly there!

      • I have a favourite trivia question – which classic rock’n’roll band once received a letter from the Dalai Lama asking them to reform?

      • I do not know the answer but I think it’s a terrific question! My guess would be the beatles (with messages like all you need is love being positive) – but I’m thinking it would be something more surprising, perhaps ABBA?

      • The Clash! The Beastie Boys were organising a Tibetan benefit and suggested to the Lama that his word might carry some weight. As Paul Simonon said “it’s not like we were kidding ourselves that he sat around listening to ‘Give’ Em Enough Rope'”

      • That’s brilliant – and Paul, you never know!

  5. Was confirmed at 200 but I guessed correctly at 500 (apparently I know random band member trivia!)!!

  6. 400 points today

  7. 400 for me too. Needed a second beastly clue.

  8. No fear of being in the dark this week. 500.

  9. Zack permalink

    500. I’m doing great with bass player names!

    • Exemplary work Zack – and I think there will be at least one more 500 bass player name before the year is up!

I don’t remember many movie lines but thats one I do!

    *looks around shiftily*
Anyone listening in? No? Alright, here’s one I came up with myself if you ever need inspiration-

500- The band’s most well known bass player is as revered as much as the lead member, for his vocals, often taking over lead vocal duties for many songs in live shows during the 70s

400- The lead member reformed the band (in name only) in 2015 for an album, with his name preceding the band name for authenticity reasons

300- The band released two concept albums, Eldorado and Time in 1974 and 1981 respectively

200- The lead member was a Wilbury

100- The band is Electric Light Orchestra

    • Harrison permalink

Feel free to substitute in clues of your own if you wish

    • ELO’s on the list – and I haven’t done a quiz for them yet. Therefore I may have to borrow this quiz! Cheers Harrison!

      • Harrison permalink

Always happy to help, and I look forward to the next year when I came properly participate.

If the first two clues are a bit too vague, you can add this info in-
The bass players name was Kelly Groucutt
The 2015 album title is Alone in the Universe
