Top 5 “Band”s

Bands with “Band” in the band name.

Now I haven’t heard the Allman Brothers Band’s 1001-listed-album yet (from what I gather, they’ll end up here shortly after I do) but in the meantime, here are 5 other worthy “Band”s!

5. The Beta Band
Not so coincidentally, it’s their week as artist of the week.

4. Matthew Good Band

3. Sam Roberts Band
Incidentally, also the #1 session ale on the list.

2. Dave Matthews Band
Or (according to Community), as the true fans call him, Dave.

1. The Band
Tough to beat The Band’s The Band.

Verbalize the Positive

Too many good “band”s to list here = a nice problem to have!

  1. Allman Brothers Band are the major one I can think of that aren’t something like “Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band” or “Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band”.

    • Captain Beefheart has a couple on the list – a friend was telling me about Trout Mask Replica the other day, sounds unique!

      • I’ve owned Trout Mask Replica for years, and still haven’t come to grips with it – it’s certain out there.

  2. The Chocolate Watchband!

  3. Current River Band !

  4. I like Band of Horses and Band of Skulls.

  5. Steve Miller Band, Tom Robinson Band and Manfred Mann’s Earth Band

  6. Wonderful selections! Yes, too many to choose from… I’d add E Street Band.

  7. I didn’t really consider how many First Name Last Name bands there were.

    • It’s an interesting compromise – it’s not a solo act (just the first name + last name, no ‘band’), it’s not a group (with no individual singled out), somewhere in between!

  8. Oooft. This is a good one, but no list would be complete without the Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Mark Lanegan Band, Michael Nesmith & The First National Band, though I don’t imagine any of those appear in the 1001 (would that be right?).

  9. Has anyone said Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band?

  10. There’s one that has its own list (because it crushes weaker groups):
