Fewer options perhaps than with ‘Black’ songs & albums.

That being said, those who like ‘Black’ Artists tend to like them a lot!

5. Attack in Black
Saw them at Wolfe Island a few years ago, glad I did.

4. The Black Keys
Like The White Stripes, I’m not as enamored as I sometimes feel I ought to be, but I’m hardly offended by their music.

3. Frank Black
Teenager of the Year is an eventual 1001 review.

2. Black Sabbath
How to make an entrance? Call your group Black Sabbath, release your debut album Black Sabbath, featuring a 6+ minute opening track named…you guessed it!

1.The Black Crowes
Whatever the ailment, listening to the Crowes is a fine remedy.  Let the song name puns begin!

  1. Great list. Always happy to see a few Akron boys on there!

  2. Australia’s Black Sorrows were a popular and successful band from the late 70s through the 90s. Don’t think they registered outside, Oz though. We also had an interesting ‘heavy’ band in the early 70s called Blackfeather. Oh, and I have an interesting experimental album by Jim Black.
    That’s it.

  3. Black Label Society
    Blackie and the Rodeo Kings
    Godspeed You! Black Emperor
    Black Label Motorcycle Club
    Richie Blackmore

    • I’ve been told I’d quite enjoy Godspeed, thanks for the reminder.
      And oversight, my bad, ROLLINS!

  4. Black Crowes song title puns? Bring On, Bring On!

  5. Also, did I mention BLACK FLAG?

  6. Also worthy, Blackfoot, Black Flag, Black Tusk, Black Label Society, Black Country Communion, Black Moth,

  7. Some great choices Geoff.

  8. Some great bands here. All great in fact!

I’ll add Black Country Communion, probably the best new black band of the last decade. Too bad they split. Joe Bonamossa rules.

  9. Some very fine choices there. Hurrah! for 1, 2, and 4. I’d also throw in The Black Eyed Snakes and The Black Heart Procession to make up my list!

    • Both new to me, both intriguing names!

      • Highly recommended! The Black Eyed Snakes are a favourite of mine (one of Alan Sparhawk’s many ‘not Low’ bands!) and It’s The Black Eyed Snakes is worth getting your hands on!
