New Year’s Resolution #4: Be Cool(er)

Birth of the Cool: an impeccable background music selection for evening chores.  The upbeat, unpredictable set adds a welcome distraction to otherwise routine tasks.

In that context, the record works brilliantly.

When I gave the record my undivided attention, however cool, it was less engaging.  The individual tracks don’t necessarily stand out and it sometimes feels like unstructured wandering.

So I suppose it’s either a nice distraction or somewhat distracting.  This could probably be said of other things classified as ‘cool.’
