Motörhead – Ace of Spades (1980)

August 9, 2012

[Album 79/1001]

Shredding & screaming.

Throughout Ace of Spades, the aptly named ‘Fast’ Eddie takes care of the riffs & Lemmy’s vocals sound like he’s barely fending off laryngitis.

The title track is a standout and among the rest of the lyrics, there are some interesting observations (“the chase is better than the catch”) and others that are less profound (“another beer is what I need”).

Though sometimes listening to a power trio playing, to borrow their song name, Fast & Loose is the only way to go.  Of course I’ll always listen to a group with an umlaut in their name.

If I may combine a pair of semi-relevant slogans:
Motörhead, for all you do, we salute you.
For those about to rock, this one’s for you.
